Advocacy

Advocacy is a very important part of what the ASCA does for its members and the industry. Since its inception, the ASCA has created awareness with elected representatives on the issues that the snow and ice management industry faces.

Prior to the association’s first Day On The Hill in Washington, D.C., our elected representatives were completely unaware that we, as an industry, were fighting an uphill battle against frivolous lawsuits. So unaware, in fact, that one representative even responded by asking: “You mean to tell me people in the United States are suing for falling on snow and ice?”

As a country, we depend a lot on our government’s decisions, but as an industry we need to realize our government depends on us to make them aware of the issues that we face. The ASCA and its members are working in states across the country to raise awareness and pass legislation, but we need your help.

As the saying goes, “you can complain as much as you want, as long as you participate.”  So, how can you get involved?

Attend an ASCA Legislative Day. We have gathered to make our voice heard at both the state and the federal level. Legislative Days are one of the most important events of the year, and are how we meet with elected representatives to educate and discuss the needs and challenges our industry faces. Click here to find out about upcoming Legislative Days and how you can join us.

Contact your representative. Click here to search for your federal, state, county and local elected representatives and let them know you care about the issues in the snow industry. If we don't make our representatives aware of our concerns, they won't know to do anything about them.
